Salary: USD 96,876 - 127,149.75 / annual
Oscar Health is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join its Accounting organization. Oscar is a technology-driven health insurance company founded in 2012, built on a full-stack platform with a focus on member service.
In this role, you will be responsible for income tax compliance, including preparation of tax provisions under GAAP and statutory reporting standards. You will support federal, state, and local tax return processes, as well as tax planning and special projects.
Key responsibilities include:
- Prepare annual and quarterly GAAP and statutory tax provisions
- Assist with preparation and review of U.S. federal, state, and local tax returns, estimates, and payments for the corporate holding company and insurance subsidiaries
- Prepare tax forecast modeling and monthly tax journal entries
- Conduct quarterly tax reconciliations
- Support sales and use tax and other indirect tax compliance functions
- Maintain and adhere to the tax compliance calendar
- Prepare financial data, analysis, and modeling to support tax projects
- Prepare audit and notice responses
- Collaborate with Finance and business teams on tax compliance and planning initiatives
- Identify and implement process improvements
You will report to the Senior Director of Tax. The position is based in the NYC office with a hybrid schedule requiring 3 days in-office per week, with Thursdays as a mandatory in-office day for team meetings and events.
Required qualifications: 4+ years of tax experience in public accounting or equivalent corporate tax department experience; Bachelor's degree in Accounting or 4 years of commensurate experience.
Bonus qualifications include CPA and/or Master's in Taxation, experience with corporate tax provision preparation, insurance industry background, SSAP 101 tax reporting knowledge, and experience implementing tax provision software.
