Salary: USD 165,000 - 205,000 / annual
Voyager Technologies is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the planning, design, integration, and lifecycle management of compute, camera, and radio systems for space and defense applications. Based in San Diego, this fully onsite role reports to the Systems Engineering Manager and sits within the Engineering department.
You will work cross-functionally with customers, engineers, and program management to develop requirements verification matrices, ensure compliance, and define appropriate test methods and artifacts. Key responsibilities include designing top-level system architecture and block diagrams, partitioning designs, defining internal and external interfaces, and ensuring systems are realizable, testable, maintainable, and supportable.
You will perform optimization activities, trade studies, and support integration, verification, and validation efforts. You'll communicate requirement allocations, interface specifications, and design budgets to project and design engineers, develop system-level verification and test plans, and create coherent product specifications and design documentation. The role requires providing technical leadership to engineering design teams during product development while adhering to company SOPs and quality standards.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in engineering or systems engineering with a minimum of 8 years of work experience. You must have leadership experience driving projects and teams to completion, familiarity with requirements management tools (JAMA, DOORS), and deep experience with technical product development. Preferred experience includes flight-software systems, ground-system software, mission operations, embedded systems development, embedded processors (ARM, PowerPC, x86, TI-DSP, 8051), RTOSes, software configuration management, agile development, interface buses/protocols (PCI, RS-422/232, SPI, CameraLink, SpaceWire, Ethernet, CAN), and programming in C, C++, Python, or similar languages.
