Loyal is a clinical-stage veterinary medicine company developing longevity drugs for dogs. The company is pioneering FDA-approved prescription drugs targeting the underlying drivers of aging in canines. As of early 2026, Loyal has completed two of three major FDA review sections for its lead program, LOY-002, with the third section targeted for submission later this year.
The Senior Statistician will join the Stats & Data Science team, taking independent ownership of the preclinical statistical portfolio. This role requires critical thinking beyond executing pre-specified analyses—questioning endpoint definitions, evaluating proposed targets statistically, and exploring open-ended questions where the right method isn't obvious.
Key responsibilities include: independently leading statistical design and analysis for preclinical studies (dose-response, mortality projection, aging biomarker studies); building and applying population PK/PD models (nonlinear mixed-effects, exposure-response relationships) to support dose-justification and formulation decisions; conducting exploratory analyses for endpoint development and target/pathway discovery; serving as the statistical point of contact for preclinical studies and cross-functional R&D projects; applying survival analysis, longitudinal/mixed-effects modeling, and simulation-based power/sample size methods; creating reproducible reporting in Quarto/Rmarkdown; supporting clinical biostatistics work including SAP development and regulatory strategy discussions; mentoring junior statisticians; and peer-reviewing methodology from external consultants and manuscripts.
The role reports to the Statistics Manager, Research, and offers the opportunity to grow into supporting clinical biostatistics work over time. This is a position for someone senior enough to operate independently, leading preclinical statistical strategy end-to-end while partnering closely with R&D scientists and the broader Stats & Data Science team.
