Datadog is seeking a Senior Staff GenAI Engineer to lead AI/ML initiatives within the Application Performance Monitoring (APM) product. APM provides deep visibility into application performance through distributed tracing, profiling, and telemetry correlation. This role focuses on building agentic workflows and AI-powered investigation tools to enable automated incident troubleshooting at scale.
You will serve as the technical owner for GenAI initiatives across APM, responsible for designing, training, evaluating, and deploying ML models in production. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead design and development of ML/AI-powered features across multiple teams
- Define long-term technical strategy for GenAI workflows within APM and related products
- Build and benchmark state-of-the-art GenAI/ML models
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop automated investigation and triaging tools
- Influence product direction with a strong user-centric mindset
- Guide teams through technical ambiguity and scaling challenges
- Mentor engineers and shape engineering culture through design reviews, technical talks, and working groups
- Contribute to company-wide senior engineering initiatives and thought leadership
Required qualifications include 10+ years of engineering experience with 4+ years leading cross-team technical initiatives. You should have a proven track record of shipping large-scale GenAI/ML products in production environments, deep expertise in ML model development and deployment, and strong product thinking. A BS/MS/PhD in a scientific field or equivalent experience is expected.
