Okta is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer for Strategic Accounts to support enterprise customers in the Northeast U.S. region, based in Chicago. This role bridges technical expertise and business acumen, working closely with account executives to maximize Okta's Identity Platform opportunity within Fortune 500 accounts. Key responsibilities include collaborating with sales teams to develop territory and account strategies; conducting discovery to understand complex customer requirements and communicate business value; executing proofs of concept for customers with sophisticated use cases; crafting technical content demonstrating implementation methodologies; preparing and delivering product demonstrations; and translating customer needs and feedback to Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and Sales teams. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of pre-sales engineering experience, ideally in solutions engineering, consulting, or customer-facing technical roles. You must have deep expertise in Identity & Access Management (IAM), including SSO, MFA, SCIM, OAuth 2.0, OIDC, SAML, and LDAP; lifecycle management, RBAC, and provisioning/deprovisioning. Strong understanding of Zero Trust Architecture and application security fundamentals (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption, XSS, XSRF) is essential. Hands-on development experience in web (JavaScript, HTML, frontend frameworks), mobile (iOS, Android), or backend (Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby) is a plus. Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is expected. You must be an elite communicator capable of distilling complex technical concepts for diverse audiences—from IT admins and CISOs to architects, procurement, and legal stakeholders. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or comparable field is preferred. The role involves 10-25% travel and requires in-person onboarding at Okta's San Francisco headquarters during the first week.
