D-Wave (NYSE: QBTS) is a leader in quantum computing systems, software, and services. The company offers dual-platform quantum computing products spanning both annealing and gate-model technologies, serving over 100 organizations across commercial, government, and research sectors.
In this Senior Solutions Architect role, you will build and deliver quantum optimization solutions for customer applications while collaborating with delivery leads, applications developers, and other senior architects within the professional services department. You will work with internal teams and external customers to review business problems, map them to D-Wave's hybrid solvers and quantum systems, formulate solutions, build and test prototypes, and deploy production applications.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building customer applications on D-Wave quantum computers and internal tools
- Ensuring successful project delivery to achieve business value for customers
- Communicating capabilities and asking probing questions to understand problems and propose solutions
- Gathering requirements on customer use cases, leading brainstorming sessions, consulting on solutions, modeling use cases mathematically, and designing quantum hybrid applications
- Building and maintaining relationships with leaders across D-Wave groups
- Sharing customer and project insights with tools and product teams to help prioritize features
- Organizing, preparing, and presenting technical information clearly and effectively
- Participating in developing an inclusive, helpful, and fun environment
You will work directly with external customers to identify requirements and consult on solutions to complex business problems, with a practical view of customer problem-solving and strong project delivery urgency.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Master's, PhD, or equivalent in Operations Research, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, or related technical field (preferred)
- 3-5 years of professional experience with Python
- Knowledge of Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, and Networkx (bonus)
- Business language proficiency in both English and Japanese
- Experience working directly with external customers, ideally in a consulting role
- Familiarity with leading optimization tools (e.g., CPLEX or Gurobi)
- Practical understanding of customer problem-solving with strong sense of urgency and project delivery requirements
- Knowledge of mathematical modeling and optimization solution techniques
- Experience with version control software such as Git
- Experience building applications to solve complex business problems for customers
- Collaborative mindset and solid interpersonal skills
- Passion for writing state-of-the-art code
- Ability to provide technical leadership from business problem definition through solution implementation
- Proven record of successful on-time project delivery with high predictability and quality
- Preferably experienced in Manufacturing, Logistics, or Retail Services industries
