Planet designs, builds, and operates the largest constellation of imaging satellites in history, delivering empirical earth observation data via a cloud-based platform to commercial, environmental, and humanitarian sectors. As a Pre-Sales Senior Solutions Architect focused on the NATO community, you will design complex solutions demonstrating the value of Planet's data and services to help defense and intelligence organizations overcome earth data challenges.
You will act as a trusted technical advisor, architecting and delivering solution demonstrations that highlight Planet's technical capabilities and business value. Key responsibilities include building relationships with customers' technical and management teams, crafting technical responses to tenders and RFPs, partnering with sales colleagues to shape account strategy, and collaborating cross-functionally with Customer Success, Product Management, and Business Development. You will represent the needs of Planet's Defense and Intelligence customers to sales leadership, communicate forecasts and pipeline opportunities, and potentially present to key NATO executive stakeholders. The role includes mentoring team members and driving their development.
This is a full-time, remote-eligible position based in the Netherlands or Belgium. If located near an office, you are expected to work from that office 3 days per week. Travel up to 25% is required, including international travel. The ideal candidate is passionate about earth observation, comfortable working in the defense and intelligence sector, and enjoys helping customers maximize the value of their work.
**Requirements:**
- 6+ years of relevant work experience supporting the NATO community in a technical capacity
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Expertise working with GIS and Remote Sensing users within the Defense industry
- Experience in IMINT, ISR, and related fields
- Proficiency with geospatial software (QGIS, SocetGXP, ArcGIS, GDAL) and programming languages (Python)
- Experience with emerging technologies such as AI/ML
- Ability to design and present complex systems bridging business problems and technology
- Strong communication and coordination skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to process imagery, manipulate geospatial data, interact with APIs, and build data pipelines
- Ability to lead technical customer engagements and run workshops/training sessions
- Excellent problem-solving skills, multitasking, and time management
- Professional working proficiency in English
- Ability to travel internationally up to 25%
- Obtaining and maintaining eligibility for a NATO security clearance is required
