Salary: USD 190,000 - 250,000 / annual
Astronomer is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to lead customer engagements within its Services Delivery team. You will be the senior technical lead working with project managers and engineers to help customers operationalize Airflow and Astro at scale.
In this role, you will lead architecture reviews, workshops, and technical design sessions with engineering teams and executive stakeholders. You'll design end-to-end platform architectures integrating Airflow with cloud infrastructure, compute frameworks, and data platforms. You'll review delivery work to ensure high standards for scalability, observability, security, and operational excellence, diagnose and resolve issues, and guide customers through deployments, migrations, and platform modernization.
You'll also build reusable tools, frameworks, reference architectures, and best practices that improve delivery quality across the organization.
Required qualifications include 8+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or solution architecture. You must have deep Airflow expertise—authoring and deploying DAGs to production, monitoring execution, and troubleshooting failures. You should have proven experience tuning Airflow performance, refactoring DAG code, right-sizing infrastructure, and implementing data quality checks and alerts.
You'll need a track record of guiding customers through platform deployments, migrations, or technical transformations while managing scope, timelines, and stakeholder conflicts. Strong background in designing cloud-native data platforms on AWS, Azure, or GCP is essential, with familiarity in enterprise networking, security, and identity patterns. Programming experience in Python and SQL is required, along with familiarity with CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Docker, and Kubernetes. Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, BigQuery, or Redshift is a plus.
You should have a track record leading architecture discussions and driving technical decisions with engineering leaders and executive stakeholders, with strong communication and documentation skills to translate business requirements into scalable, production-ready architectures.
Customer engagements are primarily remote, with occasional travel for conferences and team on-sites.
