Salary: USD 190,000 - 250,000 / annual
Astronomer is seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to lead customer engagements within its Services Delivery team. You will serve as the senior technical lead for data orchestration platform implementations, working with small teams of project managers and engineers to help customers operationalize Airflow and Astro at scale.
In this role, you will interact directly with customer engineers, architects, and executives to design end-to-end data orchestration platforms. Responsibilities include leading architecture reviews and technical design workshops, designing cloud-native data platform architectures that integrate Airflow with cloud infrastructure and data platforms, reviewing delivery work to ensure scalability and operational excellence, diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, and building reusable tools and reference architectures that improve delivery quality across the organization.
You bring 8+ years of experience in data engineering, platform engineering, or solution architecture, with deep Airflow expertise including DAG authoring, production deployments, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. You have a proven track record guiding customers through platform deployments and technical transformations, managing scope and stakeholder conflicts. Strong background in designing cloud-native data platforms on AWS, Azure, or GCP, with familiarity in enterprise networking, security, and identity patterns. You are proficient in Python and SQL, with experience in CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Docker, and Kubernetes. Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, dbt, BigQuery, or Redshift is valued. You excel at leading architecture discussions with engineering leaders and executives, translating business requirements into scalable, production-ready solutions.
Customer engagements are primarily remote with occasional travel for conferences and team on-sites. Astronomer is the commercial home of Apache Airflow and powers data orchestration for over 800 leading enterprises globally.
