Spendesk is an AI-powered spend management and procurement platform trusted by thousands of companies. The company simplifies procurement, payment cards, expense management, invoice processing, and accounting automation across multi-entity structures.
You will join the Wallet squad within the Payment Groups, taking ownership of building reliable, scalable financial services for finance teams. This is a primarily backend-focused role (approximately 70% backend, 30% frontend) where you will own functional and technical topics across the full feature lifecycle—from discovery and specification through technical design, development, testing, documentation, deployment, and maintenance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design, develop, and maintain reliable services for wallet accounts, deposits, balances, cash movements, and payment flows
- Build clear and trustworthy experiences that help finance teams understand current and future cash positions
- Contribute to capabilities improving liquidity, funding flows, and fund movements in, out, and between entities
- Work on international and multi-entity use cases, including multi-currency wallet capabilities
- Contribute to accounting, segregation, reporting, and operational workflows supporting accurate and compliant financial services
- Define and evolve robust architectures using principles such as hexagonal architecture, clear domain boundaries, and strong data consistency
- Lead technical initiatives from discovery and design through implementation, delivery, and continuous improvement
- Use AI-assisted development tools daily and help promote responsible usage across engineering
Tech stack: TypeScript with Node.js and React, PostgreSQL, Redis, SQS, Kafka, Terraform, Kubernetes, Lambdas, Step Functions, AWS, and GitHub Actions.
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will also help shape the squad's technical direction, support strong engineering practices, and contribute to a positive and collaborative team culture.
Requirements:
- Fluency in written and spoken English (business language)
- At least 5 years of experience in software development, ideally in a product-focused environment
- Strong expertise in TypeScript, particularly for backend development with Node.js
- Proven track record of designing and delivering high-quality, scalable products
- Strong architectural knowledge, including experience with microservices and maintainable system design
- Ability to lead initiatives and make sound decisions with high degree of ownership and autonomy
- Product-oriented mindset with ability to contribute to discovery, prioritization, meetings, and squad rituals
Nice to have:
- Experience in financial services, payments, fintech, or regulated industries
- Experience with wallet, treasury, cash management, accounting, reconciliation, or payment account products
- Experience integrating with third-party providers through APIs, external services, and webhooks
- Experience with ledgers, financial data consistency, event-driven systems, or event-sourcing patterns
- Knowledge of compliance, security, banking operations, or maintaining reliable regulated platforms
- Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, or infrastructure-as-code
- Experience supporting international, multi-entity, or multi-currency use cases
