ARQ is a fast-growing fintech company on a mission to redefine how people interact with money across borders, building infrastructure to move value seamlessly. As a Backend Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing backend systems that power innovative financial products. You'll collaborate with a talented team to create solutions that drive financial inclusion and transform how people manage their money globally.
You'll focus on greenfield development and improvement of existing systems, including building REST APIs, engineering microservices, and evolving critical business systems such as card payments, treasury management, transactions booking, and crypto liquidity. The technology stack is predominantly Java 25 on the backend with Postgres databases, leveraging Spring Boot for rapid and quality delivery. The team emphasizes clean code, maintainability, and fast iteration using test-driven development (TDD), domain-driven design (DDD), and continuous integration & delivery practices.

Office policy: 3-4 days per week in-office.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrable experience in backend development with fluency in Java
- Bachelor's degree (or above) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or other Engineering/Science disciplines
- Quick learner with ambitious, results-driven personality and excellent communication skills (English fluency, verbal and written)
- Track record of building complex products used by millions in hypergrowth startups
