In this role, you will work closely with product teams to enhance their reliability, observability, and operational preparedness. You'll embed with teams to understand their domains and identify opportunities for improvement in monitoring, alerting, on-call practices, and incident response. Key responsibilities include:
- Embedding with product teams to mature their operational practices around on-call rotations, monitoring, alerting, and runbooks
- Designing and running game day exercises to help teams prepare for incident investigation and remediation
- Working with application code written in Haskell and TypeScript to implement reliability improvements such as retries, error handling, logging, and circuit breaking
- Defining and steering Service Level Objectives (SLOs) toward meaningful customer outcomes that product teams own
- Championing reliability practices through design document and code reviews
- Identifying and closing observability gaps that impact debugging, incident response, and business intelligence
- Advocating for longer-term infrastructure improvements
- Participating in on-call rotations and helping the organization learn from incidents
The ideal candidate brings Site Reliability Engineering or DevOps experience with a track record of influencing organizations toward greater reliability. You should have significant hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, Temporal workflows, observability platforms (Grafana or Honeycomb), and OpenTelemetry. This is an opportunity to shape reliability culture at a growing fintech company while working with modern infrastructure and practices.
