Legion Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Labor Planning & Forecasting team. You'll work on Legion, a high-performance, data-driven Java enterprise application that implements sophisticated scheduling and optimization algorithms powering the company's workforce management platform.
In this role, you'll be responsible for developing and evolving core backend features, designing scalable APIs, and mentoring junior engineers. You'll write secure, efficient, enterprise-quality Java code while maintaining deep understanding of performance optimization, data modeling, and relational database design. The application runs on AWS using Spring Boot, Hibernate, MySQL, and JSON; frontend experience with JavaScript, Angular, or React is a plus.
Key responsibilities include: developing high-quality features on schedule; owning product quality end-to-end; writing unit tests and collaborating with QA; fixing bugs daily within SLA; designing robust, scalable solutions; making data-driven technical decisions; debugging complex problems; conducting design and code reviews; and contributing to quarterly planning and team charter.
You'll need 7–8 years of backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot, 7–8 years building multi-tenant SaaS applications, 7–8 years designing and building APIs, and 5+ years delivering software in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure). Strong proficiency in Java, object-oriented design, application architecture, and distributed systems is essential. Experience as a technical lead throughout the full software development lifecycle is preferred. You should demonstrate excellent communication skills, strong work ethic, and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment.
