VSCO is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Infrastructure to own the platform that powers VSCO's product and data teams. You'll join a small, focused infrastructure team responsible for AWS, EKS, and GitOps infrastructure serving teams across search, Workspace, and data.
In this hands-on senior role, you will design and maintain Terraform modules, manage production traffic cutover to EKS, secure traffic with Cloudflare, optimize AWS infrastructure costs, and improve on-call processes. You'll have direct production ownership and the ability to sequence complex cutovers while mentoring other teams on infrastructure best practices.
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Design, build, and operate AWS and EKS platforms using Terraform, Helm/Kustomize, and Flux GitOps
- Own end-to-end production cutovers: ingress, DNS, workers, crons, telemetry, and rollback plans
- Partner with product and data teams on infrastructure architecture decisions, namespaces, secrets management, and preview environments
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines on GitHub Actions, including self-hosted runners and container image builds for Go, Python, PHP, Node, Java, Ruby, and similar languages
- Operate core data stores as platform services: MySQL, Mongo, Valkey/Redis, OpenSearch
- Manage Cloudflare and CloudFront: DNS, zone moves, CDN behavior, WAF, custom domains
- Implement observability, monitoring, dashboards, and autoscaling with a focus on preventing future incidents
- Participate in infrastructure on-call rotation, debug complex issues, and convert incidents into durable fixes
- Review infrastructure PRs and design docs, helping teams make informed tradeoffs
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years in infrastructure, platform, or site reliability engineering with hands-on production system ownership
- Strong production experience with Kubernetes/EKS, Linux, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
- AWS production experience: EKS, IAM/IRSA, networking (VPC, NAT, DNS), and at least one data store (RDS/MySQL, Elasticache/Valkey, OpenSearch)
- GitOps and CI/CD expertise: Flux and/or Helm, GitHub Actions (self-hosted runners a plus)
- Familiarity with multiple programming languages and their build ecosystems
- Experience leading technical architecture discussions and driving decisions in small teams
- Strong troubleshooting skills for complex production issues including networking and DNS
- Excellent communication and ability to teach platform consumption to other teams
