Okta is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Device Identity and Access organization, a foundational pillar of Okta's Zero Trust vision. This team transforms devices into secure, trusted identity factors, enabling seamless and secure work from any endpoint globally.
You will architect, design, and scale critical server-side software and services powering Okta's identity and security platform. Working primarily with Java, you'll own features from conception through deployment, collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Design, and QA teams. The role combines hands-on engineering excellence with mentorship—you'll guide other engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and by modeling high standards for quality and security.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the design and implementation of new features and services within the core Java platform
- Defining and championing engineering best practices, contributing to technical designs and long-term architectural decisions
- Mentoring and coaching engineers while maintaining rigorous code quality and security standards
- Developing high-quality, maintainable software with comprehensive test coverage
- Driving improvements to testing and CI/CD strategies
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation and fostering knowledge sharing
- Championing AI-native engineering practices within the Product Development Lifecycle
The Device Identity and Access organization engineers the end-to-end device experience across FastPass, Okta Device Access (ODA), and Device Assurance. The team owns continuous authentication pipelines, device lifecycle management, and cloud services that analyze real-time trust signals to enable frictionless, passwordless access across Windows, macOS, iOS, Linux, and Android. This work secures millions of enterprise endpoints globally and prevents modern identity attacks.
