Cloudflare's Infrastructure Team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to provide technical leadership for the Deploy@Scale platform, which powers safe, reliable, and automated deployments across the company's global network. This is a senior individual contributor role focused on setting technical direction across multiple work streams rather than executing within a single area.
You will operate with significant autonomy, identifying critical problems to solve and driving architecture decisions with multi-year impact. You'll partner directly with engineering leadership to shape the multi-quarter roadmap and serve as a primary technical voice in cross-team design reviews, RFCs, and incident retrospectives related to deployment safety.
Key responsibilities include unblocking and elevating the broader engineering team through design reviews, technical pairing on complex problems, and mentorship that raises the technical bar across the organization. You'll define platform scope, make strategic tradeoffs, and ensure the system remains safe, fast, and scalable over a five-year horizon.
The team is moving toward fully automated, health-mediated deployments at scale (hundreds of thousands of releases daily), consolidating fragmented deployment tooling into a coherent platform, and integrating AI as a first-class platform component. You'll work on globally distributed systems that underpin every Cloudflare product, directly impacting reliability and velocity across the network.
This role requires hands-on technical depth combined with architectural vision. You'll collaborate with internal customers to translate workflows into platform capabilities and thrive in a fast-paced, iterative environment with short release cycles. On-call flexibility outside standard hours may be required to address production issues.
