Yoodli is a communication-skills platform backed by $60M in funding (Series B led by WestBridge Capital) with a $300M valuation and 900% YoY revenue growth. The company serves enterprise customers including Google Cloud, Snowflake, Databricks, and RingCentral, helping learners in 150+ countries improve their communication abilities. You'll join the Platform team as a Senior Backend Engineer with a dedicated focus on cloud and operational security. This role bridges security engineering and general backend development, requiring you to ship production code while establishing security standards for the company. You'll own problems across authentication and authorization, data isolation and loss prevention, active threat monitoring, secrets management, vulnerability management, and audit logging. Key responsibilities include: - Designing and implementing authentication, authorization, and access control systems - Building data isolation mechanisms and data loss prevention controls - Establishing secrets management and key rotation patterns that other engineers build upon - Implementing active threat monitoring and defense systems - Managing vulnerability and dependency scanning - Creating audit logging infrastructure for compliance and security requirements - Partnering with security and compliance leadership on enterprise customer needs - Identifying trust boundary issues in design reviews before shipping You'll bring 5+ years of professional backend development experience with strong expertise in cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure), Infrastructure as Code, and languages like TypeScript or Python. You have a security mindset—thinking naturally in terms of trust boundaries, blast radius, and failure modes—but also pragmatism about right-sizing solutions. You've shipped scalable, reliable services in fast-moving environments and can debug complex distributed systems. Experience with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR), multi-tenant SaaS, Kubernetes, and GCP is valued. The role requires 3 days per week on-site in Seattle (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday). You'll work alongside a team of former Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Tableau engineers united by a shared mission to help people communicate better.
