We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our API team, which builds customer-facing and internal APIs for fast querying of large datasets. These APIs are the core building blocks of our data offering.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with product development and engineering teams to translate business initiatives into concrete technical requirements and innovative solutions
- Design and maintain our large Snowflake data lake, including database table design and efficient SQL querying to achieve short API response times
- Develop customer-facing and internal REST APIs using Java and the Spring Framework, with emphasis on performance and reliability
- Create comprehensive internal and external documentation for development, maintenance, and customer onboarding
- Develop unit, integration, and runtime tests to ensure quality and adherence to best practices
- Generate data, metrics, and visualizations for algorithm verification and optimization
- Work independently with basic guidance while collaborating effectively within the larger team
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years of Java 8+ development experience with Spring Framework for REST APIs
- Excellent SQL skills including database design, table design, automated processes, and efficient querying; Snowflake SQL strongly preferred
- Proficiency with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and its services (e.g., ECS, X-Ray)
- Experience processing data efficiently in JSON and GeoJSON formats
- Ability to translate business problems into technology solutions
- Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Generative AI tools for code authorship, testing, and debugging while maintaining security and privacy standards
- Experience with multiple applications from requirements through production deployment
