MontyCloud is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to build and maintain scalable test automation systems for an AI-driven cloud operations platform. This is a hands-on quality engineering role focused on ensuring high-quality releases in a fast-paced SaaS environment. Key responsibilities include designing and developing scalable automation frameworks across UI, API, and integration layers; collaborating with developers to embed quality practices early in the development lifecycle (shift-left); developing automated test cases and integrating them into CI/CD pipelines; and defining test strategies for microservices-based and distributed systems. You will perform API-first testing including validation of REST endpoints and schema/contracts, identify and debug defects, and leverage logs, metrics, and traces to validate system behavior and improve production quality. Additional responsibilities include ensuring adequate test coverage, contributing to improvements in automation frameworks and tools, participating in design and code reviews, supporting test data setup and environment configuration in cloud environments, and working with cloud-native architectures. Required qualifications include 5-7 years of test automation and quality engineering experience, strong programming skills in Python (preferred) or Java/JavaScript, hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks (Playwright/Cypress for UI, Pytest/Robot Framework), and strong API testing experience with tools like Postman, REST Assured, or Python requests. You must have CI/CD tool experience (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI), solid understanding of cloud-native architectures (microservices, containers, distributed systems), Docker and Kubernetes experience, and familiarity with cloud-based applications preferably on AWS. Additional required skills include understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies, contract testing/schema validation (OpenAPI, Pact), exposure to observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch), and familiarity with AI-driven or intelligent test automation tools. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is required. Desirable qualifications include experience testing AI/ML-driven systems or data-intensive applications, understanding non-deterministic system behavior (e.g., LLM-based features), test data management and validation frameworks (Great Expectations), event-driven architectures (Kafka, messaging systems), security testing fundamentals (OWASP), and shift-right practices such as monitoring, logging, or canary validation. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong collaboration and communication skills, a proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement, ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team, and attention to detail with strong ownership.
