Wealthsimple, Canada's leading financial innovator, is seeking a Senior Software Developer for its Post-Trade Management team. This role focuses on designing and delivering software that manages post-trade processing—clearing, settlement, and inventory reconciliation across eight external depositories and growing. You'll work on complex automations and data pipelines that process billions of dollars for millions of Canadians.
The Post-Trade Management team is a close-knit group of six developers who collaborate to solve tough problems through pair programming and direct partnerships with Securities Operations. You'll contribute to technical design decisions, mentor other developers through code review and pairing, and partner with Operations, Product Management, and other engineering teams to understand the business context behind technical requirements.
Key responsibilities include designing post-trade automations to support new and existing products, contributing to pipeline architecture, mentoring engineers, leveraging AI to accelerate development, and working directly with cross-functional partners. The role reports to the Software Development Manager, Post-Trade Management.
Required experience includes senior-level backend development with Ruby on Rails, designing and delivering complex automations or data pipelines in production, working with high-stakes systems where correctness and auditability are critical, mentoring engineers, and strong cross-functional communication skills. Nice-to-have skills include Java/Kotlin, React, Oracle/Postgres, Kubernetes, AWS, fintech experience, and exposure to ledgers, brokerage, custody, clearing, or settlement systems.
