K2 Space is building the largest and highest-power satellites ever flown, backed by $450M in funding from leading investors including Altimeter Capital, Redpoint Ventures, and T. Rowe Price. The company is mass-producing advanced satellite platforms for missions from low Earth orbit to deep space, with multiple launches planned through 2026 and 2027.
In this role, you will own the enterprise identity platform end-to-end, designing and building the authentication and authorization systems that govern access across K2's corporate, engineering, and mission-critical environments. Identity is treated as the security perimeter at K2—every engineer, ground system, mission system, SaaS tool, and automated pipeline depends on precise access controls.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning and maturing the enterprise identity platform, including identity provider, single sign-on, federation, and directory services across corporate, engineering, and mission environments
- Designing and implementing authentication standards using modern protocols such as SAML, OIDC, OAuth 2.0, and SCIM
- Driving adoption of phishing-resistant MFA including FIDO2 and WebAuthn
- Managing privileged access management and secrets management systems
- Automating identity lifecycle processes to eliminate standing access and shared credentials
- Implementing least-privilege access controls without impeding engineering velocity
You will be deeply hands-on, working across identity providers, SSO and federation systems, MFA infrastructure, lifecycle automation, and privileged access management. The role focuses on real-world impact: closing access paths, automating workflows, and enabling the teams building spacecraft to move fast while operating confidently within strong security boundaries. This is an individual contributor role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and can balance security rigor with operational pragmatism.
