RobCo is building autonomous industrial robotics solutions that combine modular hardware, intelligent software, and AI to automate manufacturing processes. As a Robotic Sales Engineer, you will be the technical face of RobCo to customers and the technical lead on every deal from initial discovery through handover-ready solutions.
You will work closely with Account Executives as a team, carrying shared quota and winning deals together. Your responsibilities include:
- Qualifying opportunities: Join discovery calls and site visits to assess technical fit, business value, and risk early in the sales cycle.
- Running requirement workshops: Lead structured on-site sessions with production, engineering, and operations teams to capture parts, processes, cycle times, layout, interfaces, safety requirements, and acceptance criteria.
- Checking feasibility: Make initial technical assessments on reach, payload, cycle time, gripping, and vision capabilities using layouts, simulations, and tests. Escalate to Product or Solutions Development as needed.
- Driving the concept: Transform workshop findings into clear requirements and recommend the optimal automation approach. Own collaboration with Solutions Development and Product until a complete, buildable concept is ready.
- Being the technical face: Explain RobCo's robots and solutions in plain language to plant managers, engineers, and executives. Run demos and support business cases and RaaS pricing models.
- Closing the loop: Feed field insights back to Product to shape future development.
You will be on the road approximately 30% of the time visiting customer sites.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience in automation-focused technical pre-sales, application engineering, or automation projects
- Hands-on experience with robot cells including grippers, vision systems, feeders, conveyors, and safety systems
- Ability to walk through a manufacturing plant and identify automation opportunities
- Strong communication skills with operators, engineers, and executives
- Structured thinking and documentation skills
- Ability to sketch layouts or check reach in CAD or simulation tools (e.g., Autodesk Fusion, Visual Components)
- Willingness to travel approximately 30% of the time
- Plus: Experience in physical AI (AI-based perception, learning-based manipulation, autonomous robots)
- Plus: Domain knowledge in machine tending, palletizing, assembly, or pick-and-place
- Plus: Robot programming or system integrator background
