DeepL, a global AI product and research company with ~1,000 employees and 200,000+ business customers, is seeking a Senior Revenue Accountant to join its revenue finance team (approximately 3 people). This is an individual contributor role focused on revenue recognition strategy and systems in a high-tempo SaaS environment. You will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely revenue recognition in full compliance with IFRS 15, reviewing and analyzing complex enterprise contracts and high-volume transaction data. Key responsibilities include: **Revenue Recognition & Financial Reporting**: Ensure IFRS 15 compliance, review contracts and add-ons for appropriate revenue treatment, prepare and review monthly/quarterly/annual closing adjustments and reconciliations, and assist in financial statement preparation and disclosures. **Data Analytics & Automation**: Develop and maintain SQL queries to extract data from Salesforce, Databricks, and other infrastructure for monthly revenue closing. Automate large-scale reconciliations between source systems and the general ledger, identifying and resolving discrepancies in real-time. **Process Improvement & Compliance**: Identify opportunities to streamline revenue recognition processes, implement best practices, drive automation across workflows, ensure strict compliance with accounting standards, coordinate with internal and external auditors, and maintain strong internal controls. **Cross-functional Collaboration**: Work closely with Deal Desk, Legal, Sales Operations, and Product to ensure operational alignment. Provide financial insights to support business decisions and educate sales teams on revenue recognition rules. **System Implementation & Policy Development**: Participate in revenue recognition system implementation and testing, develop and update revenue recognition policies and procedures, and take full ownership of revenue accounting processes. DeepL offers a hybrid work schedule (twice weekly in-office), flexible hours, 30 days annual leave, virtual shares for all employees, competitive benefits tailored to location, and a diverse, internationally distributed team across 90+ nationalities. **Requirements:** - Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in revenue management or technical accounting - Strong experience with IFRS 15 (essential) - Experience at major international accounting firms (KPMG, Deloitte, EY, PwC) strongly preferred, particularly at assistant manager/manager level or equivalent - Audit experience within SaaS or high-volume data environments highly valued - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field - Qualified accountant qualification (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) - Data fluency: comfortable working with large transaction datasets, extracting/reconciling data through SQL (writing yourself or with AI assistance); must understand data structures and sense-check outputs (required) - AI-native ways of working: confident using AI tools to query data, automate reconciliations, build financial models, and streamline processes (required) - Proficiency in Workday or Chargebee is a plus - Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights - Fluency in English; additional languages a plus - Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong stakeholder management abilities - High attention to detail, precision, and accuracy - Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under fast-paced growth conditions - Strong ethical standards and commitment to confidentiality and integrity in financial reporting - Master's degree or MBA is a plus
