Star Catcher is building the first energy grid in space to power the orbital economy. The company is developing technology to wirelessly beam energy to spacecraft, enabling them to operate longer and with greater capability by "plugging into" an orbital power grid rather than relying solely on onboard power generation. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining quality management systems (QMS) across all flight projects and R&D efforts. Your core responsibilities include: • Implement QMS processes following the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle and ensure compliance with AS9100 quality standards, SOPs, and customer requirements. • Participate in internal and external quality audits to evaluate QMS performance and drive continuous improvement. • Develop and maintain processes to control standard operations, quality, and safety. • Document, evaluate, and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for issues identified internally, at suppliers, or by customers. • Facilitate immediate containment actions, stop-work orders, and disposition plans (Rework, Repair, Scrap, Use As-Is). • Lead structured Root-Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations using 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, or Fault Tree Analysis. • Establish, track, and verify Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) plans to eliminate recurring non-conformances. • Review Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and participate in Engineering Review Boards (ERB) to evaluate potential impact on quality and flight safety. • Support Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify and mitigate hardware and process risks. • Maintain configuration management discipline to ensure complete product identity and requirement traceability. • Oversee calibration control systems for measurement and test equipment used on flight builds. • Support supplier quality evaluations, incoming component inspections, and counterfeit parts prevention controls. • Ensure operational team awareness of quality policies, relevant quality objectives, and safety standards. This is an early-stage opportunity to build quality infrastructure for a space technology company at the forefront of orbital infrastructure development. **Requirements:** • Bachelor of Science in Aerospace, Mechanical, Industrial, or Quality Engineering (or related field) • 7+ years of quality engineering experience within the aerospace, defense, or space industry • Strong working knowledge of AS9100 or ISO 9001 standards • Hands-on experience with root cause analysis methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA, CAPA) • Direct experience with non-conformance processing (NCR), dispositioning, and engineering change controls (ECR) **Desired Skills:** • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or AS9100 Lead Auditor certification • Experience with flight hardware manufacturing, precision measurement tools, and cleanroom quality controls • Familiarity with project risk and opportunity registers and supplier quality monitoring Note: ITAR compliance required; must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
