Harvey is an AI platform transforming legal and professional services work through frontier agentic AI, enterprise-grade infrastructure, and deep domain expertise. The company is scaling rapidly with strong product-market fit and world-class investor backing.
You will lead Harvey's government and public sector legal function, serving as a key bridge between go-to-market, business, and cross-functional teams (Engineering, Product, Security). Your primary focus is enabling Harvey's expansion into government agencies and public sector markets by managing the full contract lifecycle with federal, state, and local government customers and prime contractors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partnering with cross-functional teams to identify public sector opportunities and advise on procurement processes, proposals, and go-to-market strategies for selling to government agencies
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex government contracts, AI SaaS agreements, and technology-related agreements while ensuring compliance with FAR, DFARS, and agency-specific requirements
- Providing contract lifecycle counsel including contract administration, performance issue resolution, and government contracting compliance
- Training and developing resources for legal and cross-functional teams
- Supporting broader legal work as the company grows
You bring 7+ years of law firm and/or in-house experience with a strong transactional background in complex SaaS, technology, and IP licensing agreements, with particular expertise in government contracts and public sector transactions. You have demonstrated experience negotiating with federal, state, and local government customers and prime contractors, and deep working knowledge of government procurement regimes including FAR and DFARS. You understand go-to-market and procurement strategy, can think creatively and work independently in fast-paced environments, and have strong project management and collaboration skills. Prior government service, AI experience, and go-to-market/sales support are valued bonuses.
The role offers flexibility: hybrid (3 days/week in office) if based in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, or Dallas; fully remote if based elsewhere in the US (DC preferred).
