Harvey is an AI platform transforming legal and professional services work through frontier agentic AI, enterprise-grade infrastructure, and deep domain expertise. The company, founded in 2022 and headquartered in San Francisco, is scaling rapidly with strong product-market fit and world-class investor backing.
You will lead Harvey's government and public sector legal function, serving as a strategic partner across go-to-market, business, engineering, product, and security teams. Your primary focus will be building relationships with government agencies, enabling sales to public sector customers, and ensuring efficient execution of agreements with federal, state, and local government entities and prime contractors.
Key responsibilities include: partnering with cross-functional teams on government opportunities and advising on public sector procurement processes and strategies; drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex government contracts, AI SaaS agreements, and technology-related agreements while ensuring compliance with FAR, DFARS, and agency-specific requirements; providing contract lifecycle counsel including administration, performance issues, and government contracting compliance; and developing training and resources for legal and cross-functional teams.
You bring 7+ years of law firm and/or in-house transactional experience with strong expertise in complex SaaS, technology, IP licensing, and commercial agreements, particularly government contracts and public sector transactions. You have demonstrated experience negotiating with federal, state, and local government customers and prime contractors, working knowledge of government procurement regimes (FAR, DFARS), and the ability to advise businesses on go-to-market and procurement strategy for government sales. You are admitted to practice law in good standing (California, New York, or DC preferred), think creatively, function independently in fast-paced environments, and bring a collaborative, service-oriented mindset with strong project management skills. Bonus qualifications include prior government service, AI experience, go-to-market/sales support background, and enthusiasm for solving hard problems with a small, tight-knit team.
The role offers flexibility: hybrid (3 days/week in-office) if based in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, or Dallas; fully remote if based elsewhere in the US (DC preferred). This is an opportunity to shape a generational company at an inflection point, with significant scope to broaden your legal expertise across multiple practice areas.
