You will lead Harvey's government and public sector legal function, serving as a bridge between go-to-market, business, and cross-functional teams (Engineering, Product, Security). Your primary focus is enabling Harvey to build relationships with and sell to government agencies efficiently and compliantly.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with cross-functional teams on government opportunities, advising on public sector procurement processes, proposals, and go-to-market strategies for selling Harvey's AI platform to federal, state, and local agencies
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex government contracts, AI SaaS agreements, and technology-related agreements with government customers and prime contractors, ensuring compliance with FAR, DFARS, and agency-specific requirements
- Provide contract lifecycle counsel including administration, performance issues, and government contracting compliance
- Develop training and resources for legal and cross-functional teams
- Contribute to broader legal work supporting the company as it grows
You bring 7+ years of law firm and/or in-house transactional experience with strong expertise in complex SaaS, technology, IP licensing, and commercial agreements, particularly government contracts and public sector transactions. You have demonstrated experience negotiating with federal, state, and local government customers and prime contractors, working knowledge of government procurement regimes (FAR, DFARS), and the ability to advise businesses on selling into government. You're creative, independent, proactive, collaborative, hyper-responsive, and possess strong project management skills. Bonus qualifications include prior government service, AI experience, go-to-market/sales support background, and enthusiasm for solving hard problems with a tight-knit team.
Admission to practice law in California, New York, or DC is preferred. The role offers flexibility: hybrid (3 days/week in-office) in New York, San Francisco, Chicago, or Dallas, or fully remote if based elsewhere in the US (DC preferred).
