The Senior Public Policy and Government Affairs Manager will expand Samsara's work on Capitol Hill to develop and drive tailwind opportunities supporting the Public Sector business. This is a senior, highly cross-functional role requiring a track record of moving concepts to reality, building coalitions, and navigating the authorizing and appropriations process to drive programmatic and funding opportunities for U.S. cities, states, and the Federal Government to adopt technologies improving safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
Key responsibilities include: representing Samsara directly before Congress and building relationships with members, committee staff (particularly on appropriations and authorizing committees), and select federal agency officials; proactively identifying and generating new funding or programmatic opportunities (formula funding, grant programs, appropriations language); building and maintaining a prioritized opportunities list with clear recommendations grounded in market opportunity, feasibility, timing, and cost; partnering closely with Public Sector Sales on legislative and funding developments; staying ahead of developments across Congress, agencies, and target states to shape broader policy strategy; managing outside consultants and holding them to high standards; drafting legislative language, funding tasks, letters, testimony, and other materials; and collaborating with Legal, Marketing, and Product to ensure government affairs work reflects accurate technology positioning and business alignment.
The role reports to the Head of Global Public Policy & Government Affairs and is based in Washington, D.C., though posted as remote.
