The Exploration Company is developing Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle designed for cargo transport and eventual human missions, along with advanced propulsion systems (Storm and Typhoon engines). As Senior Propulsion AIT Engineer, you will lead the industrialization, assembly, integration, and testing of these cryogenic propulsion systems.
Key responsibilities include leading assembly and integration of cryogenic propulsion hardware (turbopumps, valves, feed systems, complete engine assemblies), developing detailed assembly procedures and manufacturing documentation, defining tooling and ground support equipment, ensuring compliance with cleanliness and contamination control standards, and preparing engine hardware for testing. You will set up the engine production line in coordination with site leadership, provide design-for-manufacturability and design-for-testing reviews, and support the transition from prototype to serial production.
You will provide technical leadership during critical propulsion activities, mentor junior engineers and technicians, and coordinate multidisciplinary efforts across engineering, manufacturing, and test teams.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field; 5+ years of experience in engine assembly, testing, or closely related fields; hands-on experience with assembly and acceptance testing of engine components; exposure to manufacturing processes (machining, welding, additive manufacturing, surface treatments, inspections) and their impact on tolerances and performance; solid understanding of fluid dynamics; rigor and attention to detail; solution-oriented mindset with creativity to tackle complex technical challenges; strong communication and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
The company values agility, open collaboration, transparency about risks and obstacles, and maintains a culture focused on democratizing space access. Relocation assistance and visa sponsorship are provided.
