The Senior Property Accountant – Institutional role provides full-cycle accounting support for the institutional property management team. This is a senior individual contributor position that serves as a subject matter expert and mentor to junior Property Accountants while maintaining core accounting responsibilities. Key responsibilities include: serving as primary resource for Property Accountants on complex accounting questions and technical issues; responding to client inquiries regarding financial reports and account activity; acting as backup to the Property Accounting Manager during their absence, including oversight of monthly close, distributions, and reporting deadlines; reviewing and quality-checking financial reporting packages for accuracy and GAAP compliance; mentoring junior accountants on technical skills and internal processes; and identifying workflow efficiencies and process improvements. Core accounting duties encompass daily accounting functions across multiple regions, preparing and distributing monthly financial reports per GAAP standards, preparing monthly client distributions, maintaining general ledger accuracy, performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations, monitoring cash receipts and tenant billings, reviewing invoice coding for capitalization policy adherence, coordinating with departments on financial package completeness, researching historical transactions, supporting internal and external audits, researching state accounting regulations, and preparing annual 1099/1096 and quarterly tax forms. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent; 3+ years of real estate accounting experience; proficiency in Excel and Google Suite; high attention to detail; strong planning and organizational skills; ability to multitask under pressure; and client-focused mindset. Public accounting experience is highly preferred.
