Salary: USD 136,080 - 230,040 / annual
GitLab is seeking a Senior Professional Services Engineer to partner with public sector customers on successful adoption and expansion of GitLab across their organizations. You will deliver comprehensive services including installation, migration, training, and advisory engagements, meeting customers across deployment models from single-node Omnibus installations to large reference architectures using infrastructure as code and configuration as code.
In this role, you will balance hands-on technical delivery with clear communication and project ownership, helping customers make practical choices aligned with their goals, timelines, and environments. You will work closely with project managers and engagement managers to improve delivery consistency and operational excellence. As a feedback loop to GitLab's product and engineering teams, you will communicate field insights that drive improvements to features and delivery processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering Professional Services engagements (installation, migration, training, advisory) to help customers achieve successful outcomes
- Planning and executing GitLab deployments across diverse architectures, from simple to highly available setups using Terraform, Ansible, and similar tools
- Overseeing and performing migrations from multiple source systems to GitLab SaaS or self-managed, minimizing disruption and risk
- Providing technical guidance across the GitLab feature stack to help customers adopt best practices
- Partnering with project managers to improve delivery consistency and keep work on schedule
- Managing multiple customer projects simultaneously while balancing outcomes, billable time, and utilization goals
- Mentoring other Professional Services Engineers and contributing to repeatable delivery patterns
- Working with product and engineering teams to remove customer blockers and improve GitLab based on field insights

REQUIREMENTS:
- Professional experience with one or more infrastructure as code or configuration as code tools (Terraform, Ansible, Packer, Puppet, or Chef)
- Active Secrets or TS/SCI security clearance (required due to nature of public sector customers supported)
- Ability to support public sector customers with TS/SCI clearance-related requirements
- Ability to lead technical delivery end-to-end, including discovery, planning, documentation, and knowledge transfer
- Occasional travel to SCIF sites as needed
- Desirable locations: DC Metro, GA, TX, AL, CO, or UT
