Mercury is seeking a Senior Product & Regulatory Counsel to serve as the primary legal advisor for Mercury Treasury and Mercury Invest, the company's non-deposit investment products serving business and consumer customers. This is a high-impact role embedded within product teams from ideation through launch, working alongside engineers, designers, and compliance partners. Key responsibilities include owning the full investment products portfolio across the product lifecycle—from supporting new feature development and drafting disclosures to advising on marketing communications and operational matters with regulatory implications. You'll interpret and pressure-test regulatory requirements under the Investment Advisers Act, Securities Act, Investment Company Act, Regulation Best Interest, and FINRA rules, while supporting examination readiness with the SEC and FINRA. The role operates at the intersection of product, compliance, risk, engineering, and operations. You'll build cross-functional relationships and bring legal perspective early in conversations as a thought partner rather than a checkpoint. While investment products are your primary focus, you'll have opportunities to contribute across other legal matters and broaden your expertise. Mercury's legal team emphasizes working smarter through intentional use of AI tools and efficiency-driven workflows. You'll translate complex regulatory concepts into clear narratives for product teams and external stakeholders, and embrace the evolving regulatory landscape as a learning opportunity. Required: 6+ years of legal experience with at least 2 years focused on non-deposit investment products. Strong familiarity with relevant securities and investment regulatory frameworks, exceptional communication skills, and a proactive ownership mindset. Preferred: in-house experience, exposure to regulatory agencies, working knowledge of AI in legal/fintech, and broader financial services or fintech background.
