Snowflake is seeking a Senior Product Marketing Engineer to lead competitive benchmarking for its Analytics portfolio. This is a highly technical role that bridges product marketing and engineering, requiring deep expertise in data platforms and performance evaluation.
You will own the end-to-end benchmarking process: defining testing strategies, designing benchmarking architectures, executing workloads, validating results, and communicating findings to internal and external audiences. You'll partner closely with Product Management and Engineering to evaluate Snowflake's analytics products against competitive offerings using rigorous, repeatable, and defensible methodologies.
Key responsibilities include developing the technical benchmarking strategy for Snowflake's Analytics portfolio (Interactive Analytics, Business Intelligence, Semantic Views, Ontologies, and core data warehouse engine performance). You will design fair testing methodologies, configure test environments, execute benchmarks, troubleshoot technical issues, and analyze results. Your work translates complex technical findings into customer outcomes and compelling market narratives that appear in blogs, technical papers, presentations, demos, and videos.
You'll also monitor competitive products and published benchmarks, developing timely responses to competitive claims and building internal points of view on competitive performance and architectural differentiation. You'll provide benchmark-driven insights to Product and Engineering teams to inform roadmap priorities, and enable Sales and Solutions Engineering teams to communicate Snowflake's technical differentiation.
Required qualifications include 6+ years in product engineering, performance engineering, technical product marketing, competitive engineering, solutions architecture, or data engineering. You need strong understanding of modern data platforms, cloud data warehouses, and analytics engines, with hands-on experience designing and executing technical benchmarks. SQL proficiency, data modeling expertise, and experience with large-scale analytical systems are essential. You must demonstrate exceptional ability to design fair testing methodologies, collaborate with technical teams, simplify complex concepts without losing accuracy, and create technical content for external audiences.
