Cloudflare is hiring the first embedded Lead Product Designer for its Web Integrity & Trust product suite. This is a rare 0-to-1 role where you'll help define the interaction model for a suite of product categories the company is largely inventing.
Cloudflare sits in front of more than 20% of the web, giving it unique vantage point to detect automated threats, fraud, and traffic manipulation at scale. More than 50% of Internet traffic is automated, and knowing who's human, who's an agent, and who's a malicious actor is core to Cloudflare's strategy and primary value proposition to customers.
Your core challenge: turning raw signal into something humans can understand, trust, and act on. Cloudflare's products make probabilistic decisions in an adversarial environment—"Is this traffic truthfully representing who they are?" and "Can we trust this traffic?" don't have clean yes-or-no answers. Your job is to make that reasoning legible and controllable to security analysts running investigations, marketing teams understanding campaign performance, and other stakeholders.
This role spans the full arc of how customers interact with the product suite: navigation, configuration, exploring and investigating traffic, and proving value. Today these experiences live in disconnected places; a core part of this role is envisioning the coherent product they should become. You'll work directly with the Director of Product and across PMs leading each product line.
You'll set your own design process as the first design lead, working alongside peers and engineers to define what the product fundamentally is, not just how it looks.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Portfolio required; must include work demonstrating your thinking process
- Product inventor who works in the medium of design; experience taking genuinely ambiguous, ill-defined problem spaces and defining what the product should be, with concepts originating from you
- Experience making complex, high-dimensional systems legible to end users (security, fraud, observability, developer tools, analytics, network operations, finance, or similarly demanding domains); no security background required but must have the mind and craft to go deep fast
- Fluent use of AI in your own craft with judgment about where it accelerates work and where it falls short
- Independent design conviction; ability to originate solutions in spaces with little prior art and clearly articulate design rationale or pushback
- Exceptional full-craft skills: interaction design, information architecture, data visualization, and visual polish to make work real and compelling
- Desire to obsess over a domain; excited about pushing boundaries in complex spaces
- Comfortable with a blank page and setting your own process
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience as first or founding designer on a team or product
- Exposure to security, trust & safety, fraud/ad fraud (IVT), or ML-driven products
- Comfort prototyping in code or working fluently with engineers who do
- Familiarity with how analysts or operations teams actually work day to day
