Duplo is a Lagos-based fintech startup enabling African businesses to automate spend management, simplify cross-border payments, and control business finances on a unified platform. The company is backed by top-tier investors including Y Combinator, Point Nine, Tribe Capital, and Commerce Ventures, and operates across Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, and Kenya. As Senior Product Manager for Financial Operations, you will be the single accountable owner of the Duplo Dashboard—the core platform finance teams use daily to raise and collect invoices, pay suppliers locally and internationally, and manage company spending. Your scope spans the full money-in and money-out journey: invoicing and e-invoicing, local transfers, international transfers, expense management and approval workflows, billing, direct debit, and the analytics and growth levers that drive adoption and revenue. This is a high-ownership, senior individual contributor role. You will set product direction rather than manage a backlog, deciding what the Dashboard becomes, how it monetizes, how quickly customers reach value, and how the platform scales across four markets. You will work closely with a dedicated Product Designer and Engineering Leads while being accountable for commercial and usage outcomes. Key responsibilities include: **Product Strategy & Roadmap**: Own the unified FinOps strategy across e-invoicing, billing, expense management, and direct debit. Identify expansion opportunities (e.g., payroll) based on customer demand. Lead end-to-end delivery of monetization roadmaps. Maintain an outcome-based roadmap balancing new capabilities, customer commitments, compliance, and technical debt. Track competitive and market landscape for spend management, AP/AR automation, and B2B payments across Africa. **Invoicing & E-Invoicing**: Own the invoicing product end-to-end, including creation, customization, recurring invoices, reminders, payment collection, and reconciliation. Drive the e-invoicing roadmap to meet tax-authority requirements in each market (including Nigeria's e-invoicing mandate). Scope and ship enhancements such as split payments, partial payments, payment links, and ERP synchronization. **Local & International Transfers**: Own the local payments experience (single/bulk payouts, vendor management, scheduled payments, reconciliation) and cross-border payments (FX quotes, beneficiary onboarding, payment tracking). Design approval workflows, maker-checker controls, limits, and audit trails. Monitor transaction success rates and work with Engineering and banking partners to improve reliability. Expand corridors and currencies while meeting KYC/KYB, AML, and exchange-control requirements. **Expense Management, Billing & Direct Debit**: Evolve expense management with budgets, approval policies, and reporting. Define plans, pricing, packaging, and usage-based charges in partnership with Finance and GTM. Own migration planning for existing customers as monetized features roll out. Grow direct debit as a collection method. **Analytics & Growth**: Define and track success metrics across the FinOps suite. Own product analytics for the Dashboard, specifying event tracking and building funnels, cohorts, and retention views. Run feature-usage audits to identify underperforming features. Publish recurring product performance reports for leadership. Own growth across the customer lifecycle with focus on time to first transaction. Design and run experiments on onboarding, pricing, and lifecycle messaging. Drive cross-sell across the suite. **Customer Discovery & Cross-Functional Leadership**: Run customer discovery and stakeholder interviews across all four markets. Hold regular one-on-one sessions with customers and turn feedback into prioritized problem statements. Partner with Engineering, Design, Compliance, Finance, and GTM to translate requirements into shippable product increments. Write clear PRDs and collaborate on technical feasibility. Lead delivery alongside Engineering Leads. Define operational processes and support playbooks. Mentor other product managers as needed. **Requirements:** - 7–8 years of product management experience, including owning a B2B fintech, payments, or SaaS product from strategy through delivery - Demonstrated experience shipping financial operations solutions, monetization, or billing features (subscriptions, invoicing, usage-based billing) at a fintech or B2B company - Hands-on experience with payments products covering local payouts/collections and/or cross-border payments and FX, with working understanding of payment rails, settlement, reconciliation, and failure handling - Experience building products for finance teams (invoicing, AP/AR, expense management, accounting/ERP integrations) - Strong ability to write clear BRDs/PRDs and work cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Compliance, and GTM to ship complex, regulated products - Comfort working with data to define success metrics, prioritize roadmaps, and make trade-off decisions with limited information - Strong product analytics skills: defining event tracking, building funnels and cohort analyses, working in BI tools (Metabase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar); SQL is an advantage - Track record of driving product growth with measurable improvements in activation, retention, or expansion revenue through experimentation - Commercial acumen in pricing, packaging, and revenue models; ability to connect product decisions to business outcomes - Working knowledge of regulatory environment for financial products (KYC/KYB, AML, tax and e-invoicing rules, data protection) - Experience or strong interest in African markets and operational realities of building B2B financial infrastructure across multiple countries - Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority - Bias for action and comfort operating in fast-paced startup environment with evolving priorities
