Axion is an AI-powered quality intelligence platform for manufacturers in industrial, aerospace, consumer, and medtech sectors. Founded in 2021 and backed by Bessemer Venture Partners, Amplo, Boeing, and RTX Ventures, the company helps manufacturers identify, investigate, and resolve quality issues while improving customer experiences. You will own the data foundation and onboarding experience of the Axion platform, managing how raw customer quality data transforms into a trustworthy workspace for quality engineers. This is a critical path: messy, inconsistent data with domain-specific language must become actionable insights. Your work directly impacts how fast customers launch, internal effort required, and the effectiveness of Axion's AI and agents post-launch. Key responsibilities include: - Owning the end-to-end journey from data handoff through usable workspace: data setup, transformations, mappings, readiness checks, and first actionable issues - Collaborating with customers, engineering, design, solutions, and operations to define vision, strategy, and roadmap for data products - Converting manual setup work into repeatable, scalable product capabilities to reduce onboarding time and internal effort - Determining how customer data is structured, linked, classified, and converted into issues, evolving this as the product and AI mature - Capturing essential customer context during onboarding (products, components, failure modes) to improve classification, seed knowledge hubs, and provide AI agents better context - Learning from every onboarding engagement and feeding insights back into the product This is a senior individual contributor role working closely with cross-functional teams. You'll thrive if you enjoy working with real customer data, collaborating directly with engineers, and building AI products that people must trust. The company culture emphasizes speed, ownership, collaboration, and direct communication. Teams move fast, iterate rapidly, and maintain high accountability. Communication happens frequently over Slack with open feedback loops. The environment is intense but respectful of boundaries and recharge time. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of product management in B2B software, including experience with products built around messy customer data or AI output that customers need to trust - Hands-on data fluency: demonstrated experience owning data schemas, taxonomies, data ingestion pipelines, or similar data-product surfaces - Experience measuring AI output quality: ability to define correctness, use labeled examples, and validate whether changes improve results - Track record of converting implementation, onboarding, or operations work into repeatable product, with internal teams as first users - Customer and operator judgment: ability to work directly with customers and setup teams, run focused pilots, and improve product experience based on results - Experience at a venture-backed startup NICE TO HAVE: - Experience in manufacturing, quality, warranty, field service, or complex operational domains - Background in data preparation, data quality, data labeling, or evaluation products - Experience with taxonomies, classification systems, knowledge capture, or designing context for AI agents - Prior experience in implementation, solutions, or customer onboarding before transitioning to product
