Remote is a global employment platform that helps organizations recruit, pay, and manage international teams compliantly. This Senior Product Manager role owns the Benefits infrastructure strategy, a critical layer that sits underneath Remote's Employer of Record, global payroll, and PEO offerings.
Near-term focus is deeply integration-heavy: you'll migrate benefit costs onto a unified payroll system across multiple carrier and broker paths, stand up retirement plan administration for US global payroll, build provider-agnostic cost ingestion so customers can bring their own broker or carrier, ensure benefits data from clients' HR systems lands correctly in payroll, and resolve benefit-cost data-integrity incidents affecting employee paychecks. This involves hands-on reconciliation logic, eligibility files, settlement thresholds, and migration sequencing.
Longer-term, you'll own the vision and roadmap for consolidating fragmented benefits tooling into one administration platform, one cost-ingestion pipeline, and one source of truth. You'll ensure benefits behave consistently across 90+ countries and across all of Remote's product lines. You'll also own how that layer surfaces for non-human consumers—APIs and agent-facing tooling—not just UI for people.
You'll report into Product leadership with regular exposure to Engineering, Payroll Operations, Partnerships, Finance, and Legal/Compliance. This is a high-autonomy role requiring proven experience owning complex third-party integrations (API and file/EDI-based), a provider-agnostic mindset, proficiency in Cursor and/or Claude Code to autonomously build and ship functional prototypes, comfort designing for systems as well as humans (APIs, agent tooling, not just dashboards), and excellent async written communication to drive alignment across cross-functional teams without relying on meetings. Bonus experience in benefits, HR technology, payroll, insurance technology, fintech, or commercial partnership negotiation is valued.
