Xero is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the reconciliation review experience for Auto Bank Rec (ABR), an AI-powered product that automatically reconciles bank transactions for small businesses and accountants. This is a high-visibility role balancing product strategy with execution, where you will drive the shift from manual reconciliation checks toward management-by-exception workflows.
You will own the human layer sitting atop ABR automation, ensuring customers can trust the system and reach healthy reconciliation states faster. Your core focus is time-to-value for the global banking suite, pushing the experience toward true automation where routine work happens without human intervention and people only step in for exceptions requiring judgment.
Key responsibilities include ramping on the current Auto Bank Rec state and reconciliation review experience to establish a prioritized near-term roadmap; partnering with engineering teams to advance the management-by-exception model and reduce manual customer effort; defining success metrics, evaluation frameworks, and dashboards to track quality, review effort, and time-to-value as automation scales; and establishing clear, consensus-driven product requirements with design and engineering partners for expanding reconciliation into new AI-native surfaces.
You will work closely with engineering, machine learning, and cross-functional partners across global time zones, translating product ambiguity into actionable roadmaps. The role requires moving between big-picture strategy and technical implementation, guiding technical decision-making, defining model performance evaluations, and balancing automation with trust considerations.
The team is collaborative, data-driven, and distributed globally. You will join peer Product Managers in New Zealand leading different banking experience facets, alongside dedicated engineering pods, UX designers, and cross-functional stakeholders. The role supports flexible hybrid working combining in-person team days with remote focus time.
