Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform enabling organizations dependent on physical operations to harness IoT data for actionable insights. The company serves agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing—industries representing over 40% of global GDP.
As Senior Product Manager for Fuel & Energy, you will own a product area end-to-end, from customer problem identification to deployment at scale with the world's largest fleets. Fuel and energy represent the single largest controllable cost for most fleets, yet spending decisions remain largely manual and spreadsheet-driven. Samsara's data visibility—every mile, gallon, and idle minute—creates the foundation for a new class of products with billions in potential customer savings and meaningful emissions reductions.
Your scope spans fuel cards and payments, driver and vehicle efficiency, the EV transition, and operational cost intelligence. You'll go deep on one area while collaborating across a broad team. Much of this space lacks established playbooks, especially where AI can now detect waste that spreadsheets never could. You'll work differently: prototyping with AI, testing ideas in days rather than quarters.
You'll spend significant time with customers—fleet owners, fuel managers, operations leaders, finance teams—translating their problems into strategy. You'll also partner closely with go-to-market on pricing, packaging, and value communication, recognizing that selling the value is as much a product decision as building it.
Key responsibilities include running deep discovery and converting insights into strategy; owning product vision, strategy, and roadmap including business cases; prototyping and designing MVPs (clickable flows, demos, rough cuts, often AI-assisted) to pressure-test ideas before engineering commitment; shipping end-to-end customer experiences with design, engineering, and data science as equal partners; and defining success metrics, building business cases, and driving continuous experimentation grounded in data and customer feedback.
Samsara seeks product generalists, not domain specialists. The company values finding real customer problems, building conviction, and shipping measurable outcomes—the domain where you learned these skills is irrelevant. You should be a strong generalist PM with a track record in customer discovery, prioritization, and cross-functional execution. You form your own point of view from customer evidence, communicate clearly and concisely, want real ownership of vision and strategy (not just shipped features), and appreciate candid feedback and experimental mindsets.
