Ascend Analytics is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own a product area end-to-end within their SmartBidder platform and broader product portfolio. You will report to the Chief Product Officer, work alongside a diverse product team, and partner closely with engineering to translate strategy into measurable customer outcomes. The role balances strategic work—setting product vision and direction—with hands-on execution: customer discovery, prioritization, shipping, and learning from post-launch performance. You'll manage the product strategy, roadmap, and success metrics for your area, grounded in market dynamics, customer needs, and company priorities. You'll conduct direct customer and market expert interviews, validate problems before engineering builds solutions, and work closely with the engineering team and CTO on roadmap, resourcing, and tradeoffs between customer value, technical feasibility, timing, and shared capacity. Key responsibilities include writing clear requirements and success measures, maintaining an honest backlog, staying close to engineering to prevent ambiguity from stalling delivery, advocating for your product area across the broader team, collaborating with sales, customer success, and marketing to ensure launches have clear adoption paths, and informally mentoring other product managers. You'll push for structure around fuzzy tradeoffs (build vs. buy, prioritization within your area, and what not to do), define and track metrics that demonstrate product-market fit, and be transparent about learnings post-launch. Ascend Analytics is a high-growth, private equity-backed SaaS company transforming the power industry through advanced analytics, cloud-based technology, and deep market expertise. The company helps energy buyers and producers solve complex challenges around grid reliability, power market volatility, renewable integration, infrastructure development, and energy investment strategy. The Boulder, CO office operates on a hybrid schedule (3 days in-office, 2 days remote). The company prioritizes candidates who can work from Boulder HQ but will consider remote candidates for the right experience. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Economics, or related field, or equivalent experience - 5+ years of B2B product management experience, managing a product area end-to-end across strategy, discovery, delivery, measurement, and iteration - Direct experience in energy trading, RTO or ISO markets, and price forecasting, OR experience managing or building products for energy traders, RTO market participants, and forecasting analysts - Comfortable partnering with or informally mentoring product managers earlier in their career - Direct experience working with senior engineering partners, including a CTO, on product, technical, and delivery tradeoffs - Excellent people skills and demonstrated history of collaborating well with people of distinctive styles and various experience levels - Ability to build product strategy, define success measures, and communicate both clearly to non-product audiences - Clear written and verbal communication skills - Sound product judgment, ability to juggle multiple priorities, make evidence-based tradeoffs, and follow through PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience in the power and renewables industry or building products for energy market participants - Direct trading desk experience placing real-time or day-ahead bids in ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, or ISO-NE - Experience inside a private equity-backed company and understanding of PE expectations around growth, metrics, and reporting - MBA or master's degree - Experience taking a product through a real growth period, not just steady state - Comfort with SaaS metrics (ARR, retention, growth) and how product decisions move them - Experience presenting product plans to senior leadership
