You will lead the development and optimization of transaction monitoring capabilities across Airwallex's payments and financial operations platform. This role sits at the intersection of risk, compliance, data, and product, ensuring monitoring systems effectively detect suspicious activity while maintaining excellent customer experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own end-to-end product strategy for real-time and post-transaction monitoring, including rule design, alert optimization, workflow automation, and client-specific risk controls
- Optimize monitoring rules and thresholds to improve detection quality and reduce false positives
- Build scalable post-transaction monitoring and manual review workflows with investigator tooling
- Design client-specific risk controls for large merchants, tailoring monitoring rules and safeguards to transaction patterns
- Drive decisions across risk and compliance workflows, including automation and data-driven decisioning
- Partner with Risk Operations to optimize alert triage, case management, and investigator productivity
- Work with Data and Engineering to ensure reliable monitoring data pipelines and scalable detection infrastructure
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI and advanced analytics to improve detection accuracy and reduce manual effort
- Ensure monitoring capabilities align with AML, fraud, and regulatory requirements
You bring 6+ years of product management experience, ideally in payments, fintech, or financial crime prevention. You have hands-on experience building or owning transaction monitoring, fraud detection, or AML systems. You're comfortable with SQL and data tools to investigate signals and optimize rules. You excel at cross-functional collaboration with Risk, Compliance, Operations, Data, and Engineering teams. You have strong stakeholder management skills and can translate regulatory requirements into scalable product solutions. Experience with AML monitoring platforms, case management tooling, or ML/AI-driven risk systems is a plus.
