Salary: USD 165,000 - 192,000 / annual
Clever is the leading identity platform for education, used by over 111,000 schools worldwide to power secure digital learning experiences. The company is seeking a Senior Product Designer to own authentication and identity design across the education sector.
In this role, you will shape the design direction for Clever's authentication platform as it expands into new areas including AI agent access and device-level identity management. You'll work horizontally across multiple product and engineering teams to create a coherent, consistent login and authentication experience even as the underlying problems evolve. This is a chance to define what authentication means for the entire EdTech industry.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting consistent design direction across authentication surfaces (human login, AI agent access, device-level identity) without directly owning every team
- Leading design for how authentication extends into new territory while maintaining coherence in the core login experience
- Mentoring and coaching other designers on the team, with a structured approach to their growth
- Partnering closely with product and engineering leads across multiple teams simultaneously
- Using AI tools to prototype and accelerate design work
- Communicating design rationale and strategy clearly across the organization
You'll partner with product and engineering leads across authentication teams and the broader design organization. Success means delivering a consistent, well-considered authentication experience as new surfaces and use cases are added.
REQUIREMENTS:
Must-haves:
- Proven experience designing complex security products, specifically in cybersecurity, identity, or authentication
- Experience operating horizontally across multiple teams or product areas, setting consistent design direction without owning every team directly
- Direct experience mentoring or coaching other designers, with a specific approach to helping them grow
- Strong cross-functional collaboration experience, partnering closely with product and engineering across several teams simultaneously
- Comfort using AI tools to prototype and accelerate design work
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Nice-to-haves:
- Background in K-12 EdTech
- Familiarity with identity protocols such as OAuth/OIDC or SSO/MFA standards
- Experience designing or shipping AI-driven product features
