Credit Genie is a mobile-first financial wellness platform leveraging AI to provide personalized financial insights and tools for instant cash access and credit building. Founded in 2019 by Ed Harycki (former Swift Capital founder, acquired by PayPal), the company is backed by Khosla Ventures and led by industry veterans from PayPal, Square, and Cash App. You will own a product space end-to-end—from ambiguous problem definition through launch and post-launch iteration—with minimal supervision. This is a senior individual contributor role on a small, experienced design team (fourth designer) reporting to the Director of Product Design. You'll partner directly with product management, engineering, brand, and research leads, with regular visibility to the executive team. Key responsibilities include: decomposing ambiguous problems into sequenced, executable bets; setting craft standards and making transparent trade-off decisions; shaping the design system (building a new system for a rebrand while maintaining the existing one); choosing between scrappy and thorough approaches based on problem context; influencing the roadmap by connecting design to business strategy; building cross-functional alignment before decisions become blockers; communicating complex work through crisp narratives; mentoring mid-level designers with real feedback and growth; improving team rituals and processes; and creating frameworks and documentation that make other designers faster and better. The role requires someone who has already been the most senior designer in a room and wants to work somewhere decisions still matter. You'll work in a regulated fintech environment where knowing when to move fast versus when to be thorough is critical. REQUIREMENTS: - 6+ years designing consumer digital products with clear examples of owning entire product spaces, not just features - Portfolio demonstrating craft and reasoning: problem definition, exploration, discarded options, trade-offs, and post-launch outcomes - Real design systems experience: building, evolving, or deprecating patterns at scale with engineering partnership - Range across visual, interaction, and content design; native mobile experience essential (both products are mobile-first) - Evidence of raising the bar for others: mentorship, critique leadership, or adopted processes - Strong written communication (alignment happens in docs and async) - Comfort with genuine ambiguity and fast pace, with judgment to know when speed is wrong - Fluency with AI in workflow (prototyping, exploration, production) and discernment about when not to use it NICE TO HAVE: - Fintech, lending, credit, or regulated consumer domain experience - Experience designing multi-brand portfolios or launching a second product alongside an existing one - Motion, prototyping, or front-end literacy - Experience working closely with embedded UX researchers
