Rohlik Group is building the future of e-grocery across five European markets (Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania) with over a million active customers. The company owns its entire technology stack, from storefronts and apps to automated fulfillment centers and last-mile logistics.
As Senior Product Design Engineer within the Customer Experience domain, you will own the end-to-end design of all customer-facing surfaces across web, iOS, and Android for five international markets. You will design every touchpoint in the customer journey—from homepage to checkout and real-time order tracking—impacting millions of orders.
Key responsibilities include:
• Design and UX strategy across web, iOS, and Android for core journey stages: homepage, search & browse, product pages, basket, slot selection, checkout, and order tracking
• Own the design system (Maia) as a product, including component architecture, design tokens, patterns, and documentation to guide AI coding agents
• Define interaction patterns for Maia, the company's AI shopping assistant, determining when it intervenes, how it presents information, and handoff to human support
• Drive experimentation and analysis: prototype rapidly, evaluate A/B test results objectively, scale successful experiments, and sunset underperforming features
• Conduct qualitative user research directly—interviews, usability tests, and field research with real customers to uncover friction points
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Owner, Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, peer designer, and teams in Commercial, Marketing, and Operations
Rohlik operates as a deliberately tight-knit, high-performing team where design decisions move straight to production. The role emphasizes that most e-commerce failures are communication problems (what is said, in what order, on which screen), not layout issues. You will work in an AI-first environment, owning interface design for the AI shopping assistant and building structured design system guidance for automated coding workflows.
The team values high accountability with low overhead, direct customer engagement, and honest evaluation of impact—work that doesn't deliver measured results is reverted.
Workplace: Hybrid (three days in office, two days remote). Unlimited paid vacation based on trust.
REQUIREMENTS:
• 5+ years of experience designing consumer-facing digital products with a strong portfolio of shipped work across web and native mobile (iOS and Android)
• Advanced Figma and design system expertise: deep, hands-on experience building, scaling, and architecting multi-platform design systems at token and component level
• Data-fluent mindset: ability to read and rigorously interpret A/B testing data, distinguishing genuine impact from vanity metrics
• Fluency with AI tooling: practical experience integrating AI tools into modern design, prototyping, and design system workflows, with clear understanding of where conversational AI adds real interface value
• User research expertise: demonstrated experience designing, running, and analyzing qualitative usability sessions directly with end users
• Strong product reasoning: excellent English communication (C1 level or above) with ability to articulate strategic and behavioral rationale behind design decisions
NICE-TO-HAVES:
• Experience designing production-grade AI or assistant-driven interfaces
• Experience contributing directly to code at component or token level
• Background in e-commerce, quick-commerce, online grocery, or last-mile delivery
• First-hand familiarity with how German customers shop
• Fluency in German or Czech
