Comfy is building the AI creation engine for visual professionals, with 4 million users and a powerful node-based workflow platform. The Developer Platform enables developers to deploy serverless ComfyUI environments, call partner models through Comfy Router with a single API key, and integrate Comfy into their own agents via Comfy MCP.
You will be the design DRI (directly responsible individual) for the entire developer surface, owning the console, onboarding, docs experience, and usage/billing interfaces. You will work directly with the pillar PM and platform engineers, making product decisions that design is responsible for. This is not a role where specifications are handed to you—you will identify unclear platform problems, understand who the developer is and what they're trying to accomplish, and carry solutions from problem definition through shipped UI.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own the design of the developer console: environments, API keys, Router, usage, spend, rate limits, and workspace settings
- Turn new models, endpoints, and capabilities into clear interfaces as the platform ships rapidly
- Design error states and edge cases (failed deploys, empty credit balances, rate-limit errors, missing permissions)—in developer tools, error messages are interfaces
- Shape the docs and quickstart experience in collaboration with the docs PM, ensuring reference material and console feel like one product
- Talk directly to developers building on Comfy to understand their needs before deciding what to build
- Build what you design: write frontend code for your features and submit PRs
- Set the design bar and direction for the Developer Platform pillar
Comfy was founded in 2023 as an open-source project and now has 4 million users, 60,000+ community-built nodes, and 150,000+ daily downloads. Used by artists, filmmakers, game studios, and major companies including OpenAI, Netflix, Amazon Studios, Ubisoft, EA, and Tencent. The team is based in San Francisco, composed of talent from Stability AI and Google. Recently raised $30M at a $500M valuation led by Craft Ventures.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of product design experience with shipped developer-facing products (console, API platform, cloud product, or SDK)
- Deep knowledge of developer tools and concepts: API keys, webhooks, rate limits, serverless deployment
- Either you were a developer, are currently a developer, or have many years of hands-on experience in developer products
- Proven ability to own a product surface end-to-end without a design manager, with clear examples of decisions made and rationale
- Strong information architecture skills—ability to organize complex objects, permissions, and relationships into clear, intuitive interfaces
- High craft standards: typography, density, spacing, and interaction details matter; shipped work respected by other designers
BONUS:
- Experience with ComfyUI or other node-based/workflow tools
- Familiarity with AI creation tools (Krea, Runway, Higgsfield, Flora, etc.)
