Twilio is seeking a Senior Presales Engineer to join the Communications team, supporting New Business and Strategic customer segments. This role is critical to enabling customers to build the future of communications infrastructure.
As a Senior Presales Engineer, you will lead the technical pre-sales relationship with customers, driving technical discovery, proposing architectures, demonstrating products, and building trust in Twilio's solutions. You'll be comfortable engaging with mid-level managers and sketching API flows with customer engineers. You will independently run low to mid-complexity opportunities, gaining exposure to all aspects of the deal cycle while developing comprehensive knowledge of Twilio's technology and sales processes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with Account Executives on pre-sales activities: opportunity qualification, demonstrations, Proof-of-Concept, RFP responses, design documentation, technical presentations, and enablement sessions
- Lead the technical and product sale, recommending best-practice solutions and guiding customers on Twilio API usage
- Establish yourself as a trusted advisor through discovery-driven understanding of customer technical pain points
- Build and present interactive, complex customer product demonstrations showcasing Communications Products capabilities
- Identify and solve problems for both customers and the organization
- Contribute to the broader Solutions Engineering community through knowledge sharing and creating reusable materials
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years pre-sales experience selling complex technical products, OR 6+ years professional experience supporting technical products with customer-facing delivery/consulting background
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to gain audience confidence
- Strong storytelling ability to communicate complex topics across multiple audience levels
- Ability to understand customer communications needs and guide to technical solutions
- Software development experience or working knowledge in backend languages (Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP) or web development
