K2 Space is building the largest and highest-power satellites ever flown, with over $1 billion in total funding and $1 billion in signed contracts across commercial and US government customers. The company is mass-producing advanced satellite platforms for missions from LEO to deep space, with multiple launches planned for 2027 and scaling to 100 satellites per year.
The Enterprise Information Systems team builds the digital backbone powering K2's satellite design, manufacturing, and mission operations. This platform connects engineering, production, and mission control into a seamless ecosystem, enabling hardware to move from concept to orbit faster than ever.
As a Senior Platform Engineer on this team, you will design, implement, and deliver on the roadmap for internal developer experience and platform infrastructure. You'll work closely with talented engineers, architects, and senior stakeholders to build consistent application patterns deployed to Amazon EKS that enable both AI-assisted general application development and specialized work.
Key responsibilities include: building repeatable, low-friction patterns that enable engineers from multiple backgrounds to develop high-quality applications and services; practicing surgical precision in feature development to deliver high value while avoiding unnecessary complexity; delivering work with excellence including readable code, automated tests, clear documentation, and polished observability; understanding manufacturing domain functionality, service identity, and secure communication; establishing AI guardrails, observability, and governance; and promoting secure and consistent AI adoption while supporting operational needs.
You should distill application development best practices into patterns that reduce friction, understand the importance of resilience and reliability in production operations, and have the technical depth to guide platform architecture decisions. This role requires strong technical skills paired with empathy for fellow engineers and the ability to simplify complex systems.
