As Senior Platform Engineer, you will own engineering enablement and the systems that enable engineers and AI coding agents to build, deploy, observe, and operate Doctronic's production services. This is a high-impact role focused on improving developer experience, infrastructure reliability, and operational excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Improve reliability and operation of production services on AWS ECS, managing infrastructure that handles millions of consultations
- Build shared infrastructure, service templates, and delivery workflows to reduce time from code to production
- Enhance local development, CI, test, and deployment workflows so engineers can work independently for routine tasks
- Create agent-ready repositories, documentation, and interfaces enabling AI coding agents to complete useful tasks with minimal supervision
- Automate recurring work: service setup, dependency changes, release checks, incident triage
- Establish guardrails and feedback loops making agent-produced changes fast to validate and safe to ship
- Provide engineers with useful logs, metrics, alerts, and service health information
- Define practical standards for incident response, recovery, capacity, and service reliability
- Build security, privacy, and compliance controls into infrastructure and delivery workflows
- Track infrastructure costs and improve efficiency as traffic, data, and AI workloads scale
- Collaborate with product, AI, data, and security engineers on production problems
You should have strong experience building and operating production systems on AWS, deep knowledge of containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, networking, and observability. Experience with container orchestration, developer environment improvements, CI performance optimization, and internal engineering tools is essential. You should be comfortable writing software and automation rather than relying on manual procedures, and have daily experience with coding agents and evidence of building tools that make them more reliable. Experience measuring or improving engineering throughput, CI time, test quality, or self-service adoption is valuable. Most candidates will have 5+ years of relevant experience, though exact tool overlap is not required if platform fundamentals are strong. Experience with AI infrastructure, regulated systems, disaster recovery, or high-traffic applications is a plus.
The technical stack includes AWS (ECS, ECR, RDS, DocumentDB, Redis, S3, CloudFront, ALB, IAM, Secrets Manager), Terraform/Terragrunt for infrastructure as code, GitHub Actions for CI/CD, and CloudWatch for monitoring. Most automation is written in Python or shell.
You'll work with a small, senior engineering team with high autonomy. Application teams own their services; platform engineering makes that ownership easier through shared infrastructure, tools, and standards. All infrastructure changes are reviewed and managed as code, with high standards for patient safety, privacy, reliability, and code quality.
