GitLab is seeking a Senior People Analytics Analyst to drive data-informed decision-making across the organization's People function. In this role, you'll partner with GitLab's People Leadership team and cross-functional stakeholders to design, develop, and continuously improve analytics solutions that support strategic HR initiatives.
Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining scalable reporting and dashboard solutions using tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker; writing advanced SQL to build and maintain analytical data models in large-scale relational databases; applying statistical methods including regression, forecasting, hypothesis testing, and survival analysis to identify meaningful trends in people data; and serving as a subject matter expert for survey design, implementation, and analysis.
You'll translate technical outputs into clear visualizations and actionable insights for business stakeholders, collaborate with the Data team to manage pipelines and automate workflows, and own people analytics intake and office hours to help stakeholders frame business questions and maximize value from existing reporting solutions. You'll also create and maintain documentation for data definitions, business rules, and analytical methods.
Required qualifications include experience in People Analytics or a closely related function; proficiency with business intelligence tools; advanced SQL skills; and competency in R or Python for statistical analysis and automation. Experience designing and analyzing employee surveys is essential. Strong data visualization, storytelling, and communication skills are critical for success in this role.
Preferred experience includes Workday reporting, people systems like Greenhouse or Culture Amp, and AI experimentation in analytics workflows. GitLab's onboarding program will provide the context needed to succeed, and no prior DevOps knowledge is required. The role is fully remote within the United States.
