The Global Payroll team delivers accurate, timely, and compliant payroll across all entities and markets worldwide. As Senior Manager, Payroll Tax, you will own and evolve Airwallex's global payroll tax strategy and operating framework, serving as the subject matter expert for employment tax, payroll withholding, employer social security, benefits-in-kind, equity compensation, and related reporting obligations across all jurisdictions. Key responsibilities include: establishing payroll tax governance standards and controls; monitoring legislative and regulatory developments; partnering with Global Payroll to ensure accurate processing, tax calculations, reconciliations, and statutory filings; overseeing compliance across multiple jurisdictions including income tax reporting, employer contributions, and social security; reviewing payroll registers and resolving discrepancies; advising on tax implications from hiring, terminations, bonuses, benefits, and employee relocations; providing expertise on benefits-in-kind valuation and reporting; overseeing equity arrangement tax treatment (ESOPs, RSUs, share awards); managing payroll tax audits and authority correspondence; managing external advisers and vendors; driving standardization of payroll elements and chart-of-accounts mapping; identifying automation opportunities; using data analytics to identify anomalies and process improvements; and communicating complex technical matters to senior stakeholders. You will work closely with Global Payroll, People Operations, HR, Finance, Legal, Accounting, Global Mobility, HRIS teams, and external advisers to ensure payroll tax accuracy, compliance, and scalability across a rapidly expanding global organization.
